Nor Lines schedules in Shortsea XML

Hans Kristian Haram,05.Sep.08

Nor Lines, a Norwegian shipping line operating 16 cargo vessels out of Norway, will make their schedules available in data format using Shortsea XML Schedules. Schedule portals, like Shortsea Shipping Norway, will be able to read and upload Nor Lines' schedules to their server, thus saving manual work. The intention is also to use the format for Port Call reporting to Norwegian authorities.

Papinet embrace Shortsea XML

Mariann Sundvor,29.Aug.08

A 2 days workshop was held in Amsterdam in August and the result is that Shortsea XML and papiNet agreed to cooperate to create efficient transport of paper products.

The two day Amsterdam workshop was highly productive and valuable for both parties. Joint validation of both org's respective schema defintions was accomplished.
  • Additionally, a gap analysis was generated between the 2 standards - the list being very small
  • A Mapping document between the two standards will be developed shortly
  • The papiNet organisation will make a determination of joint participation wil depend upon the 2nd Marco Polo project being approved for Norstella/ShortSea XML as well as approval from papiNet's T&L SIG (Segment Implementation Group) and by papiNet executve committee.
  • My recommendation would be for papiNet to continue to work jointly with ShortSea XML.
  • papiNet will be expecting to leverage the marketing efforts of the ShortSea XML organisation once papiNet approves this joint effort is in our best interests.

Papinet,

Progress on Marseille T2L documentation

Hans Kristian Haram,10.Jul.08

Pursuing a work shop with Gyptis in Marseille in June, Shortsea XML has proposed a Shortsea_XML_Manifest subset for T2L reporting. This subset will be used for business to government reporting of shipments between EU countries on ships passing non-EU countries.

In the Marseille case the ships go from Marseille, France to Pireus, Greece, passing North African ports. French authorities have approved the use of this message and participate in the project, that is organised by Gyptis.

More information on the subset can be found by following the link below.

UECC Car shipping

Hans Kristian Haram,09.Jul.08

UECC has asked us to help them define booking and status message for use in distribution of cars. They wish to receive status on incoming cars to their terminal and based on this organise their bookings.

We have just published a draft Booking Car subset for their review. We have also added new field to the Shortsea_XML_Booking_1.2 message, that has recently been release as a draft.

Draft new versions of all message has been published

Hans Kristian Haram,08.Jul.08

New versions (1.2) of all messages are now in the process of being published. Initially we publish them as draft versions. We invite participants to give input, that we intend to include in the release version planned for September.

The new versions includes:
  • Specified Document Context: To define the Shortsea XML message and Subset used.
  • Header Document that contains information about the message.

The new Booking message offers booking of equipment (trailer and container) shipping, in addition to consignment booking that is part of earlier releases. Additional fields have been added to cater for the requirements of our implementation cases.
