Introduction
The Shortsea XML Booking message library has been designed specifically for users and providers of shortsea transport. It is flexible and easy to use and provides the complete range of messages required for booking cargo. The entire process is described in a written document giving users all the information they require to benefit from this unique system. The XML schemas are written to comply with UN/CEFACT’s global standards and have been developed using Core Component procedures. Shortsea XML Booking is supported by most modern technology platforms and is suitable for both small and large organisations.
Processes supported
The Shortsea XML Booking is used for booking of Cargo Consignment or Equipment (Containers, Trailers etc) for short sea Port-toPort or Door-to-Door shipment. The Transport Buyer is normally an agent of a deep sea line, a forwarder, a shipper or a trailer operator. The Transport Provider is normally a shipping line or its agent.
The following processes are supported:
- Booking: Initial booking and/or call-off of space. Not all fields are required. The Booking should be inserted as new booking.
- Booking Update: Further updates on Bookings. The tag content of the Booking Update message should replace exising data from earlier Booking and Booking Update messages.
- Booking Cancellation: Cancellation of a booking.
